Phil Stride is Head of London Tideway Tunnels at Thames Water. He is responsible for the Thames Tunnel, which will substantially reduce the volume of untreated sewage overflowing from London's sewers. The tunnel, which has a length of up to 32km, is 7.2m diameter and will be constructed at depths of up to 75m. The cost of the project is estimated at £3.6bn.
Phil has worked for Thames Water for thirty six years and has held a number of senior management positions in both Engineering and Operations. Until April 2008 he was Head of Capital Delivery (Water) and in the regulatory year 2007/2008 managed the delivery of the company's £527m capital investment programme for clean water assets. Phil was the Institution of Civil Engineers’ UK Civil Engineering Manager of the Year in 2003.
